"There's a place for me. There's a place for you. And when we team up,
it creates a powerful force for the good of the community."

Impacting the Next Generation
At Hill Country Bible Church, we believe that individuals coming together can make a difference. We believe people impacted by the love of Jesus have the greatest capacity to leverage that love to impact the people around them.
A few years ago, city leaders called upon the church community to assist in making a lasting impact by addressing illiteracy and dropout rates in Austin. This request led to the formation of Education Connection, an organization dedicated to solving these connected issues. “Every child reading by the end of third grade” became its mission.
According to Education Connection, today 1,246 volunteers are serving at least 2,845 students in 12 school districts across Central Texas, by sitting with elementary children each week for 30 minutes to read one-on-one. The program is rapidly expanding, with an increasing number of children requiring additional support. You can significantly benefit a child’s life and education by investing just a half an hour a week.

THE START OF A MOVEMENT
Hill Country Bible Church started when, in 1985, God gave 17 ordinary people in Austin, Texas a dream to start a major movement of faith in their community. Already committed followers of Christ involved in a local church, the group sensed God’s call to begin a new church that used the best of both traditional and innovative approaches to ministry and outreach. Their goal was to create a Bible-based church that was free from denominational limitations, but responsible to work in conjunction with and seek input from a local association of like-minded churches. From the beginning, their priority was people — not programs.
