Taking the Gospel to Our CityLearn About Our Training Center
Hill Country Bible Church has a straightforward and compelling vision: To reach every man, woman, and child in Greater Austin with the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ.
We want people all over the city we love to be changed because they hear the good news of Jesus Christ. The reality, though, is that there are just 4.75 churches per 10,000 people in Austin. To fulfill our vision, we knew we had to take the gospel to Austin, and not wait for Austin to come to us. So, in 1996 we formed the Association of Hill Country Churches (AHCC), and from 1996 to 2005 planted four churches in Georgetown, Pflugerville, Southwest Austin, and on the University of Texas campus.
Since that time the Association has planted 29 churches with an active total of 24 due to mergers and some closures. HCBC Austin isn’t the only planting church in the AHCC, either. Some of our church plants have planted as well.
As of 2016, it’s estimated that 160 people move to Austin every day. For more than 10 years now, our city has grown by more than 50,000 people every year. To reach the men, women and children of Austin, we need to plant a new church each and every day. We’re not there yet, but we are making an impact in Austin through church planting and intentional living.
During Easter 2016, almost 24,000 people attended one of the Association of Hill Country Churches and heard the gospel. Of those, 151 of them came to faith in Jesus Christ that day. With 2 million people living in Greater Austin, that means a little over 1% of the people in our area had the opportunity to hear about the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ at one of our church plants or campuses. God is moving in this city and people are responding to His message, but there is still so much to do!
