Get Involved in Great Adventure 2024

 

No matter how long you’ve been a part of Hill Country, and regardless of your age and stage in life, you can play a part in the summer of a lifetime by serving. Whether driving student leaders to the clubs they lead, welcoming your community at SummerFest, or opening your yard for children to hear the good news about Jesus, there is a part for you to play in this movement!

Check out details about the schedule below, save the dates on your calendar, and then make a plan to play a part in the summer of a lifetime by making a difference in the lives of children, students, and adults!

  • June 2: Night of Prayer
  • June 23-28: Boot Camp
  • July 8-11: BackYard Bible Clubs
  • July 8-11: Special Needs Family Camp
  • July 8-12: Xtreme Adventure
  • July 12: SummerFest

Volunteer Opportunities For Adults

Boot Camp Volunteer

  • Title of Role – Boot Camp Volunteer
  • Who – 18+
  • What – Opportunity for a few different roles including a Day or Overnightight Chaperone, Night SecuritySnack Team, or Nurse
  • When – June 23-28
  • Where – Concordia University Texas
  • Why – Each of these roles is vital to helping our students have a great experience at Boot Camp and ensuring our student teams are prepared to go out to their clubs! There are shepherding opportunities in each of these roles, as you have the chance to hear how clubs are going and pray over students and the kids they are impacting.

Boot Camp Driver

  • Title of Role – Boot Camp Driver
  • Who – 21+ (Must have a valid driver's license.)
  • What – Opportunity to drive the students to/from our BackYard Bible Clubs. This role is crucial in engaging in conversation with the students, so they can share their experiences at the clubs and reflect on how God is using them.  
  • When – June 24-27
  • Time Commitment: 6pm-9pm Monday-Thursday (June 24-27)
  • Where – Driving from Concordia University to BackYard Bible Clubs in surrounding Austin areas
  • Why –Each of these roles is vital to helping our students have a great experience at Boot Camp and ensuring our student teams are prepared to go out to their clubs! There are shepherding opportunities in each of these roles, as you have the chance to hear how clubs are going and pray over students and the kids they are impacting.

Xtreme Adventure Volunteer

  • Title of Role – Xtreme Adventure (XA) Volunteer
  • Who – 18+ (Students are welcome to serve on the Snack and Game Teams.)
  • What – Opportunity for a few different roles including a Chaperone, Snacks Team, and Check-in Team, and Game Team.
  • When – July 8-12
  • Time Commitment: 8:30am-12:30pm
  • Where – Lakeline Location
  • Why – Each of these roles is vital to helping our students have a great experience at XA! There are opportunities to connect and engage with students throughout the week in each of these roles, which provides a chance to develop a relationship with lasting impact.

BackYard Bible Club Team Driver

  • Who: Adults 18 years or older with a vehicle to transport students 
  • What:God has blessed us with all the drivers we need this year.  Drivers are responsible for getting teams of students (current 7th-12th grade) to their clubs as we saturate greater Austin with the love of Jesus. They get the opportunity to encourage, support, and pray over the team of students. It is a great opportunity to work with our students, but also to get to BLESS other families as you arrive at the clubs. 
  • Where: Drivers meet at one of our locations to meet their teams, then drive out to a club in the greater Austin area. 
  • When: Clubs take place from July 8-11. If you drive in the morning, you are serving from 9 am –12 pm. If you drive in the evening, you serve from 5:30-8:30 pm

BackYard Bible Club Host Home

  • Who: Hill Country adults host Bible Clubs by inviting kids (ideally Pre-K - 4th grade) and their families.
  • What: Kids will have fun and learn about Jesus. Teams of trained students lead these clubs each morning and evening, using games, skits, and songs to share the good news of Jesus Christ throughout our community.
  • Where: In your neighborhoods' public spaces and yards
  • When: Clubs take place from July 8-11. 
    • Morning Clubs: 10-11:30am
    • Evening Clubs: 6:30-8pm

Please have one adult sign up to Host and all other adults (18 and over) in the household and helping host sign up to Co-Host.

God has provided all host homes needed for Great Adventure 2024.

Co-Host must know the Host's name before they sign up to co-host.

Special Needs Family Camp

Special Needs Family Camp, designed for individuals with all abilities, include learning about Jesus through creative storytelling, engaging worship, and interactive play.

There is also a siblings camp for the siblings of our special needs friends, and a  parent/caretaker camp designed for those that care for special needs' individuals.

Special Needs Family Camp happens every day during the week of July 8-11 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Lakeline location (12124 RR 620 N, Austin, TX 78750).

SummerFest

Create a fun-filled, welcoming festival environment at our Lakeline location, so that all our guests have a great time and experience the love of Jesus. 

Serve as an individual, with your small group, or with your family and friends. There are many ways to get involved including greeting guests, hosting games, helping with beverage tents, and setting up/cleaning up.

GO TRIPS (FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS)

Our mission trip teams will launch this summer to BLESS the nations. Teams will focus on building relationships, demonstrating Christ's love, and proclaiming the Good News of Jesus through welcoming refugee and international families, teaching English, hosting Bible clubs, serving our mission partners, and initiating Gospel conversations.
