Great Serving Opportunity for Families
Each year, thousands of Leander and Round Rock ISD elementary and middle school students may not have the resources to start school with a backpack and basic school supplies. You can help these students be ready by donating or volunteering.
Your online donations allow us to purchase new backpacks and school supplies at manufacturer’s cost. For every $8 donated, we can provide a backpack filled with grade-specific school supplies, with the goal of reducing the performance gap in our schools based on socio-economic status. You can help meet the needs of up to 3,200 students with your generous donations.
Donations will be collected June 15 through August 15.
We need hundreds of volunteers to help with this three-day event on August 2 – 4. View the days and descriptions below and then click the volunteer button to sign up for one or more shifts.
Thursday, Aug 2, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
We will setup the LEO Center for the weekend. This will include break down of any existing chairs, table set-up and unpacking the supplies.
Friday, Aug 3, 8:30 am – 11:30 am (or until finished)
We will start filling backpacks at 8:30 and continue until we finish. Come for any or all of the time. Breakfast/snacks will be provided.
Saturday, Aug 4, 7:00 am – 9:00 am, 9:00 am – 11:00 am, & 11:00 pm – 1:00 pm
We will serve the families coming to pick up their backpacks. Activities include greeting, face painting, bounce houses and refreshments along with backpack distribution. The 1st and 3rd shifts will help with set-up and clean-up.
