Special Needs Training

Bill and Deana Boggess have been married since 1985, reside in Austin and have two married daughters and two grandchildren. Bill is Director of Audiology for Capitol Otolaryngology and Deana studied special education and occupational therapy. She is a bridge kindergarten teacher at First Foundations Preschool.  They served in the special needs ministry at Hill Country Bible Church NW since 1998. After directing this program for 13 years, they felt called to help other churches start similar ministries. They have helped over  50 churches take steps to minister to this special community.

Equipping the Local Church to Serve

How to start a special needs ministry

The basic, one hour training  class. Explore what your ministry can look like and learn:

  • how to get your leadership and congregation on board
  • how to change your church attitude toward people with disabilities
  • how to recruit,  train, and motivate volunteers.
  • what to expect – there will be obstacles  and blessings along the way.

BUDDY I Training

This three hour workshop provides the basics of working with a variety of disabilities and age groups. Get the details on:

  • Basic behavior modification strategies
  • Handling seizures
  • General safety and security plans
  • Learn about physical disabilities and developmental delays

Buddy II Training

This three hour workshop helps you structure your ministry. Learn how to:

  • develop your administrative and leadership team
  • structure for success
  • advocate and influence for a special needs ministry

You will also learn more detailed strategies for classroom and behavior management.
