Prepare to Take the Journey to the Cross 

Dear Traveler,

Join the Journey for 2012 and travel with us through 11 books of the Old Testament and the book of Matthew. What do these books have in common? They each reveal aspects of God's redemptive plan for mankind that will ultimately lead to the most pivotal event in all of history: Jesus' death on the cross. You'll gain a greater understanding of how historical events paved the way for the Messiah and how God used ordinary, imperfect people to accomplish purposes much larger than what they could see at the time.

Our prayer is that the journey will help you develop a habit of spending time in God's Word and that you'll experience the joy of walking with Him on a daily basis. We look forward to taking this journey with you!

This website will provide you with a daily reading assignment (approximately one chapter a day Monday through Saturday). Also, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss what you are reading with other people.

Be sure to read the complete daily Bible passage before you begin reading the devotional. If you prefer, you can look up the passage in your own Bible. But don’t skip over the passage and jump straight to the devotional. Reading God’s Word is the most important part of the Journey!

How do I get the most out of Join The Journey? 

To get the most out of Join The Journey, you are encouraged to...

• Read the assigned Bible passage for the day before you read the devotional.  You can use your own Bible or open the link to the online Bible source, but don’t skip over the reading and go straight to the devotional.  The most important aspect of Join the Journey is daily time in the Word, so use the devotionals to supplement your reading, not to replace it. 
• Talk about what you are reading and learning with your family, friends, and small group. You can also use the material for discussion in discipleship or mentoring relationships. Since we'll all be reading the same thing at the same time, we have a great opportunity to share what God is teaching us.
